Chapel Hill, Arkholme
Chapel Hill and the Church of St. John the Baptist, Arkholme, Lancashire.
Chapel Hill is a late 11th century earthwork motte and bailey castle. The fortress was built on high ground to defend a medieval ford across the River Lune below. The bailey can no longer be seen but probably supports the church.
