Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Castle near Ravenglass on the west coast of Cumbria.
The building originated as a 13th century fortified tower house, and was incorporated into a country house in the 18th century. This imposing castle overlooking the River Esk has been privately owned by the Pennington family since 1208, when the lands were granted to Alan de Penitone.
