Sir Hugh Seymour Walpole, CBE (1884 – 1941)
Walpole was a popular and prolific author of the first half of the 20th Century, most famous for the Herries Chronicles series of novels. A close friend of Virginia Woolf and Henry James, Walpole also wrote Hollywood scripts and even served with the Red Cross in Russia during World War I.
