The Statue, Chapel-le-Dale, Yorkshire Dales.
The statue of a tree sprite was sculpted by the Scandinavian artist, Charles l’Anson.
The statue was purchased by the Swedish Consul, Torsten Bailey, who had a great love of trees. He was responsible for much deciduous tree planting in the dale to encourage wildlife. This was seen as unusual in the 1970s because large block pine plantations for economic gain were popular then.
