The Middleham Jewel: A late 15th century gold pendant with a blue sapphire. The Crucifixion is engraved on the front, and the Nativity on the back. A religious scene is engraved on each side.
The pendant was discovered by a metal detectorist in 1985 near Middleham Castle and bought by the Yorkshire Museum in York for £2.5 million.
A replica of the pendant is on display in both Middleham Castle and the Church of Saint Mary and Saint Alkelda.
