Lady Jane Grey, the "Nine Days Queen" (1537 – 1554)
Born at Bradgate in Leicestershire, Jane married Lord Guildford Dudley in 1553. She was pronounced Queen in July 1553 , but after only nine days was deposed in favour of her cousin Mary. Jane was executed 'for treason' in the Tower of London in 1554 aged 16. Her father, The 1st Duke of Suffolk who owned Thurnham Hall in Lancashire was executed eleven days later.
