Millom Castle
Millom Castle as viewed from the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church, Millom, Cumbria, UK.
Built in the early 12th century, the castle is believed to have suffered significant damage from attacking Lancastrian forces in the mid 15th century and again in 1644 during the Civil War when it was captured by Cromwell's troops because the owners, the Huddlestons were Royalists. The castle has been a ruin since 1739. It is not open to the public and is part of a working farm. Grade 1 Listed
