Treefold North, Ullswater
Treefold North overlooking Ullswater in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. Treefolds are part of the Long View Project, a celebration of trees in the landscape..A sapling has been planted inside each treefold. The folds are built from local stone (the 'bones' of the earth) by Andrew Mason and bear two lines from a poem written by Harriet Fraser and etched by Pip Hall. This Ullswater fold is made from stones washed off the fells during the 2015 Storm Desmond..The Ullswater treefold reads,.."roots deep, years weathered.taking the long view"..Other treefolds are on Little Asby Common and in Grizedale Forest: The complete poem that is carved into the three folds reads:.."in this circle of land’s bones .moments gather into wood..seeds, ideas, earth, light.elements entwine, a slow graft of time..roots deep, years weathered.taking the long view".
